Vietnam’s imports of paper reached US$201.46 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 7.21 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$758.86 million.
China continues to lead paper imports despite slight growth:
China remained the largest supplier of paper to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$81.16 million. This marks a slight increase of 2.57 percent from March and accounts for a significant 37.36 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
Indonesia sees a significant decrease:
Imports from Indonesia experienced a substantial decrease of 32.07 percent in April, falling to US$26.80 million. Indonesia accounts for 15.05 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Japan and South Korea see minor decreases:
Imports from Japan saw a marginal decrease of 0.78 percent in April, with a value of US$21.50 million. South Korea also experienced a decrease of 11.18 percent, with imports valued at US$19.97 million.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Austria experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 2983.66 percent, although its overall import value is lower. Sweden and Finland also saw notable rises. Conversely, France experienced the most significant decrease at 79.33 percent, followed by Taiwan at 38.92 percent and Singapore at 39.64 percent. Imports from the Philippines ceased entirely in April.
