The Netherlands accounted for three new FDI projects in October in Vietnam, with US$4 million in newly registered capital, according to the latest data for October from the Ministry of Planning and Investment. This is an improvement over September, which saw four new projects and US$11 million in newly registered capital added to Vietnam’s 2024 FDI tally.
Year-to-date figures show a total of 11 new projects and US$164.84 million in newly registered capital. These figures demonstrate that the Netherlands remains a significant contributor to Vietnam’s economic development, particularly in sectors such as manufacturing and processing.
Of note, a number of Dutch companies have already established a strong presence in Vietnam. These include Royal Dutch Shell, which is involved in the energy sector, particularly in oil and gas exploration and production. Philips, a global leader in health technology, operates in Vietnam, manufacturing and supplying products related to healthcare and lighting solutions. Heineken, the well-known beverage company, also has manufacturing plants throughout Vietnam, producing beer.
Additionally, ASML, a key player in the semiconductor industry, is involved in providing advanced technology solutions to support the growing electronics sector in Vietnam. These companies highlight the strong and diverse presence of Dutch businesses in Vietnam, particularly in energy, technology, consumer goods, and manufacturing.
