Vietnam’s exports to Indonesia reached US$527.62 million in October, up 6.80 percent month-on-month with year-to-date export value totalling US$5.16 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Of note, rice exports dropped significantly by 54.73 percent to US$30.45 million, while machinery, equipment, tools, and instruments recorded a slight decline of 4.20 percent, totalling US$38.76 million.
Other means of transportation and parts saw an extraordinary surge of 284.30 percent, contributing US$80.03 million. Telephones and mobile phones also performed well, growing by 28.32 percent to US$29.45 million. Exports of iron and steel rose by 92.65 percent to US$33.67 million, while textiles and garments fell slightly by 3.62 percent to US$38.90 million.
Plastics exports decreased by 15.42 percent to US$33.95 million, and chemicals dropped by 42.30 percent to US$30.74 million. Computers, electrical products, and spare parts declined by 8.68 percent, totalling US$17.36 million.
The strong growth in categories such as transportation parts, iron and steel, and telephones highlights the expanding trade relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia despite declines in specific sectors like rice and chemicals.
