In Dong Nai and Binh Duong in southern Vietnam, it’s not uncommon for 15 to 20 percent of employees to leave their jobs within their first year, according to EuroCham vice chairman Thang Nguyen and reported by The Investor. Nguyen says workers in these provinces are mostly migrant workers looking for better jobs and more money and often change jobs to get further ahead.
Furthermore, Nguyen notes that to attract employees businesses will often offer better job titles even if this is different from the role they actually perform. This creates challenges for recruiters in working out exactly what skills a job applicant has and the tasks they are qualified to perform.
Of note, the average wage of factory workers in Vietnam is generally higher than most other industries. On top of those wages, factory workers are also entitled to a number of relatively standard entitlements.
