Japan-VN asset tie-up

Asia Asset is reporting that Japan’s Amova Asset Management and BIDV Securities have signed an agreement to establish a new asset management company in Vietnam.

The joint venture, subject to regulatory approval, will offer investment management products to Vietnamese individual and institutional investors. View source→

Import tax refund guidance

The Investor is reporting that Vietnam Customs has clarified that import tax refunds for domestically delivered imported materials will depend on when the relevant customs declarations were filed.

Declarations filed before July 1, 2025, must meet the on-spot import and export rules in force before that date.

For declarations from July 1, 2025, foreign traders can conduct on-spot transactions without being required to have no presence in Vietnam. View source→

Instant noodle consumption

VOV is reporting that Vietnamese people consumed 8.23 billion servings of instant noodles in 2025, ranking fourth globally and first for per-capita consumption.

Consumption averaged about 80-81 servings per person annually, equivalent to roughly one serving every four to five days. View source→

AI plans

VnExpress is reporting that the government has approved a national artificial intelligence strategy targeting 10 internationally competitive Vietnamese AI brands by 2030.

The strategy also targets at least eight Vietnamese-language AI models and five national shared AI platforms. View source→

SSC + S&P Dow Jones execs meet in NY

CafeF is reporting that executives from Vietnam’s State Securities Commission have met with executives from S&P Dow Jones in New York to discuss Vietnam’s stock market classification and reform progress.

The two sides discussed foreign investor access, ownership limits, settlement and clearing, information transparency, investor protection and international institutional participation, the article says. View source→

Integrated PT ticketing for Hanoi

Thanh Nien is reporting that integrated electronic ticketing will be introduced across Hanoi’s metro and subsidised bus networks from September 1.

Passengers will be able to use physical chip cards or the Hanoi Transport Ticket app for day, weekly, and monthly passes covering buses and both metro lines. View source→

LT airport working through break

VnExpress is reporting that Long Thanh Airport contractors have been ordered to continue construction during weekends and holidays to keep phase one on schedule for completion by end-2026. View source→

Crypto fines from September 1

Dan Tri is reporting that from September 1 new fines will come into effect for individuals and organisations violating rules governing cryptocurrency trading and services.

Domestic investors trading cryptocurrencies outside licensed service providers face fines of VND 30-50 million (US$1,140-1,900) or trading crypto assets reserved for foreign investors face fines of VND 70-100 million (US$2,660-3,800). View source→

Profit from VinFast factory sale

VnExpress is reporting that Vingroup earned VND 12.54 trillion (US$476 million) from selling VinFast Trading & Production, which owns VinFast’s manufacturing operations in Vietnam.

The stake was transferred in June to Tuong Lai Company, an entity in which Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong has invested.

The divestment helped lift Vingroup’s first-half financial income nearly fourfold, contributing to pre-tax profit of VND 34.4 trillion (US$1.31 billion). View source→

Stock market Friday

The VN-Index closed at 1,832.12, up 0.56 points or 0.03 percent, with a total trading value of VND 17,365.28 billion or US$659.02 million, and foreign traders net-buying US$12.26 million worth of equities, Friday, according to the latest data from the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.

On August 30, in Vietnam, the black market US dollar buy rate was VND 25,860 and the sell rate was VND 25,890, a change of 0, and 0, respectively, for a mid-market rate of VND 25,875 (down 0.00 percent), according to prices quoted by Ty Gia USD.
