Vietnam imported US$706.29 million worth of coal in April 2025, up 9.1 percent from March, according to the latest data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports reached US$2.52 billion, with April accounting for nearly 28 percent of that total.
- Australia remained the top supplier with US$264.08 million in April, up 12.5 percent month-on-month and making up 38 percent of YTD imports.
- Indonesia followed closely with US$226.72 million, a 10.7 percent increase over March.
- Russia supplied US$81.09 million, up 22.1 percent month-on-month, contributing over 11 percent to the YTD figure.
- China’s shipments surged over 300 percent from March to US$11.75 million.
- Laos exports dropped by 26 percent to US$18.65 million, while Malaysia recorded US$144,000 in coal deliveries.
- No imports were recorded from Japan in April after a small volume in March.
