Vietnam’s exports of clinker and cement reached US$112.83 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a modest increase of 0.33 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$523.17 million.
Philippines and Bangladesh remain top markets despite slight declines:
The Philippines continued to be the primary destination, with May exports totaling US$20.51 million, a slight decrease of 2.25 percent from April. The Philippines accounts for a significant 22.39 percent of YTD exports. Bangladesh also remained a key market, though its exports decreased by 9.07 percent to US$16.91 million.
Malaysia, Australia, and Taiwan show strong month-on-month growth:
In contrast to the overall stable trend and declines in top markets, several countries demonstrated robust month-on-month growth in May:
- Malaysia exports surged by an impressive 83.91 percent, reaching US$5.14 million.
- Australia saw a strong increase of 61.95 percent.
- Taiwan exports jumped by 43.23 percent.
- Laos exports increased by 17.08 percent.
- Kenya emerged as a new export market in May with US$1.6 million, having no recorded exports in April.
- Myanmar also appeared as a new market with US$822,500.
Saudi Arabia and Peru see exports halted:
Notably, Saudi Arabia and Peru, which were significant export destinations in April, recorded no exports in May, indicating a 100% decline for Peru and the cessation of exports to Saudi Arabia. Cambodia also experienced a notable decrease of 26.82 percent.
The largely stable overall export figure for clinker and cement in May, despite significant shifts among individual markets, suggests a rebalancing of trade flows, with new opportunities emerging as some traditional large-volume destinations reduce their intake.
