ToggleVietnam’s imports from Brazil increased 2.47 percent month-on-month to US$415.10 million in September 2025, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Year-to-date imports reached US$3.74 billion, led by key commodities such as maize, ores, soybeans, and cotton.
Maize imports surged 58.34 percent to US$143.39 million, while ores and other mineral products rose 58.40 percent to US$76.83 million.
Soybean purchases fell sharply by 68.59 percent to US$34.78 million, and cotton dropped 52.45 percent to US$14.35 million.
Machinery imports more than tripled to US$9.11 million.
Vietnam continued to rely on Brazil for agricultural and raw material imports, highlighting the two countries’ strong commodity trade links.

Vietnam trade with Brazil
Vietnam’s total trade with Brazil edged down 1.12 percent month-on-month to US$637.48 million in September 2025.
Imports rose slightly by 2.47 percent to US$415.10 million, while exports fell 7.19 percent to US$222.38 million.
This left Vietnam with a trade deficit of US$192.72 million for the month and US$1.74 billion year-to-date.
Total bilateral trade for the first nine months of 2025 reached US$5.74 billion, reflecting the continued strength of agricultural and raw material flows despite softer export demand.

Vietnam-Brazil trade relations
Vietnam and Brazil established diplomatic relations in 1989, with Brazil now serving as one of Vietnam’s leading trade partners in Latin America.
Brazil mainly exports agricultural and raw materials to Vietnam, including maize, soybeans, cotton, animal feed, and ores, while Vietnam’s exports to Brazil consist of seafood, rubber, textiles, footwear, and iron and steel products.
