Vietnam welcomed 66,504 tourists from Australia in January, accounting for 3.2 percent of total international arrivals, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This represents a 30.0 percent increase from December and a 7.1 percent rise year-on-year.
Tourism between Australia and Vietnam has grown steadily over recent years, driven by strong cultural, economic, and diplomatic ties between the two countries. The increasing popularity of both countries as travel destinations has resulted in growing tourist exchanges, with Australia being a key source of tourists for Vietnam and vice versa.
Australian tourists are attracted to Vietnam’s rich history, vibrant culture, scenic landscapes, and affordable travel options. Key destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long Bay, and the Mekong Delta are among the top attractions for Australian visitors. The increasing demand for experiential travel, including cultural, adventure, and eco-tourism, has further enhanced the appeal of Vietnam to Australian travelers.
On the other hand, Vietnam has become an increasingly popular destination for Australian travelers due to its proximity, affordability, and the growing range of direct flight options from Australian cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane to Vietnam. As more Australians explore Vietnam’s diverse offerings, including historical sites, beach resorts, and bustling cities, tourism-related services such as accommodation, guided tours, and culinary experiences have developed to cater to this market.
The tourism relationship between the two countries has been supported by various initiatives, including improved air connectivity, tourism promotion campaigns, and easier visa processes. Both governments have worked to strengthen these ties, with a focus on encouraging mutual visits for business, leisure, and cultural exchange.
As both economies continue to grow and engage in regional cooperation, tourism between Australia and Vietnam is expected to expand, with increasing numbers of tourists and business travelers benefiting from the deepening cultural and economic connections between the two nations.
