Post and telecommunications costs in Vietnam fall in February: CPI data
Post and telecommunications costs in Vietnam decreased by 0.03 percent in February, with smart mobile phone and tablet accessories down by 0.75 percent, regular mobile phones falling by 0.12 percent, and landline telephones decreasing by 0.04 percent, according to Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index.
Vietnam’s milk imports rise 17.70 percent in February 2025
Vietnam’s imports of milk and milk products increased by 17.70 percent month-on-month in February, reaching US$122.36 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows January’s total of US$103.95 million, bringing year-to-date imports to US$226.27 million.
Vietnam’s ferrous waste and scrap imports surge 66.65 percent in February 2025
Vietnam’s ferrous waste and scrap imports rose by 66.65 percent month-on-month in February, reaching US$171.78 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows January’s total of US$103.08 million, bringing the year-to-date figure to US$274.85 million.
Priority Customs Treatment in Vietnam for Foreign Firms
Earlier this month, the Dong Nai Department of Customs issued a decision suspending priority customs treatment for Panasonic. The decision does not specify exactly what the well known Japanese brand failed to do, only citing Article 45 of the Customs Law. The company has been suspended for 60 days from accessing priority customs treatment.
Oceania tourist arrivals in Vietnam decline sharply in February
Vietnam recorded 41,464 tourist arrivals from Oceania in February, accounting for 2.2 percent of total international visitors, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This marks a significant 42.6 percent decline from January, though the year-to-date total reached 113,707 visitors, making up 2.9 percent of overall arrivals.
Vietnam’s electronics (ex. mobile phones) exports rise by 6.89 percent in February 2025
Vietnam’s exports of computers, electrical products, spare-parts, and components (ex. mobile phones) increased by 6.89 percent in February 2025 compared to January, reaching US$6.47 billion, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
