Vietnam’s ferrous waste and scrap imports surge 66.65 percent in February 2025

Vietnam’s ferrous waste and scrap imports rose by 66.65 percent month-on-month in February, reaching US$171.78 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows January’s total of US$103.08 million, bringing the year-to-date figure to US$274.85 million.

Japan remained the top supplier, with imports soaring by 142.14 percent to US$122.76 million, accounting for 71.47 percent of total imports. The USA followed with a 60.99 percent increase to US$18.26 million. Meanwhile, Hong Kong saw a significant decline of 38.77 percent, while imports from Australia plummeted by 97.54 percent.

Notable increases were recorded from Taiwan, up 139.87 percent, and Mexico, which saw a remarkable surge of 407.64 percent. However, imports from New Zealand dropped to zero in February.
