Wood and wooden products: Vietnam exports slightly down 1.80 percent in April, USA top destination

Vietnam’s exports of wood and wooden products reached US$1.45 billion in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a slight decrease of 1.80 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$5.39 billion.

USA remains the top export market despite a slight decrease:

The USA was the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$798.93 million. This marks a slight decrease of 4.14 percent from March but still accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date exports at 54.44 percent.

Japan remains a key export market with a slight decrease:

Japan was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$181.70 million, showing a slight decrease of 2.93 percent from the previous month. Japan accounts for 12.81 percent of the year-to-date exports.

China records marginal growth to become the third-largest market:

China was the third-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$154.99 million, showing a marginal increase of 3.06 percent from March. China accounts for 10.54 percent of the year-to-date exports.

South Korea records slight growth:

Exports to South Korea experienced an increase of 5.27 percent in April, reaching US$70.68 million. South Korea accounts for 4.78 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Canada records moderate growth:

Exports to Canada experienced an increase of 9.90 percent in April, reaching US$25.71 million. Canada accounts for 1.72 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

South Africa experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 142.30 percent, followed by Taiwan and India. Conversely, Sweden experienced the most significant decrease at 38.38 percent, followed by Singapore and Poland.
