Phones: Vietnam imports climb .07 percent in April, China dominates source countries

Vietnam’s imports of telephones, mobile phones, and their parts reached US$867.60 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a negligible increase of 0.07 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$3.42 billion.

China maintains near-total dominance in mobile phone imports:

China was the overwhelming supplier in April, with imports valued at US$782.67 million. This virtually mirrors the March figure and accounts for a commanding 88.92 percent of the total year-to-date imports.

South Korea sees a significant decrease:

South Korea was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$19.11 million, a decrease of 20.80 percent from the previous month. South Korea accounts for 3.15 percent of the year-to-date imports.

India records a massive increase:

Imports from India experienced an extraordinary surge of 808.66 percent in April, reaching US$5.83 million, although its overall contribution to the total YTD remains small at 0.25 percent.

Taiwan sees a substantial increase:

Imports from Taiwan rose significantly by 90.10 percent in April, reaching US$2.17 million, accounting for 0.17 percent of the year-to-date imports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

India and Taiwan experienced the largest month-on-month increases. Conversely, the UK saw the most significant decrease at 89.30 percent. Imports from Hong Kong and the USA ceased entirely in April.
