Vietnam’s exports of yarn increased significantly in October 2024, with volumes reaching 173,474 tonnes and a value of US$397.70 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a 20.2 percent rise in volume and an 18.2 percent increase in value compared to September, which recorded 144,272 tonnes and US$336.56 million.
Year-to-date performance shows more modest growth. From January to October, Vietnam exported 1.54 million tonnes of yarn, valued at US$3.65 billion. This marks a 4 percent increase in volume and a marginal 0.3 percent rise in value compared to the same period in 2023.
The October surge reflects recovering demand for Vietnamese yarn in global markets, while the modest year-to-date growth highlights challenges such as price pressures and fluctuating demand. Continued efforts to enhance competitiveness and expand market reach could help drive further growth in this sector.
