Vietnam’s production in sawing, planing, and preserving wood decreased by 2.1 percent in December compared to November, according to Vietnam’s Industrial Production Index.
Year-on-year, production grew by 13.3 percent in December compared to December 2023. For the entire year of 2024, cumulative growth reached 8.5 percent compared to 2023, indicating strong performance throughout the year.
The slight monthly decline could be attributed to reduced production activities during the holiday season. However, the sector’s year-on-year and annual growth highlight increased domestic and export demand for processed wood, driven by the construction and furniture industries.
Wood processing plays a vital role in Vietnam’s industrial economy, benefiting from abundant natural resources and advanced production techniques. As one of the largest global exporters of wood products, Vietnam continues to see investments in sustainability and innovation to meet international standards.
The sector’s strong performance in 2024 reaffirms its significance to Vietnam’s industrial and export economy.
