Vietnam’s TV output up 22.9 percent year-on-year in Q1

Vietnam produced 1,363,700 televisions in March, up from 1,304,700 units in February. The March figure marked a 14.4 percent increase compared to the same month last year, while total output for the first quarter reached 3,989,500 units, up 22.9 percent year-on-year, according to data from the General Statistics Office.

Vietnam’s TV production industry has developed significantly in recent years, supported by the growing demand for television sets both domestically and internationally. As one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing electronics markets, Vietnam has become an important hub for TV assembly and manufacturing, attracting both local and international players.

The country is home to several key TV manufacturers, including local brands like Viettronics and Asanzo, as well as international companies such as Samsung, LG, and Sony, which have established production facilities in Vietnam. These companies produce a wide range of televisions, including LED, OLED, and Smart TVs, catering to both the domestic market and export demands.

Vietnam’s TV production primarily focuses on assembly, with manufacturers importing key components like screens, processors, and circuit boards, and then assembling them into finished products. The country’s competitive labor costs, strategic location, and well-developed manufacturing infrastructure have made it an attractive destination for TV production, with factories located primarily in industrial zones such as those in the northern provinces of Bac Ninh and Hai Phong.

The domestic market for televisions has been growing, driven by rising incomes, urbanization, and the increasing consumption of digital content through streaming platforms. As a result, Vietnamese consumers are seeking more advanced TV technologies, including larger screens, higher resolutions (4K and 8K), and smart features that enable connectivity with internet services.

In addition to meeting domestic demand, Vietnam has become a significant exporter of televisions, particularly to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. This export growth is supported by the country’s cost advantages and its status as a key part of the global supply chain for electronics.

However, Vietnam’s TV production industry faces challenges such as competition from other low-cost manufacturing hubs like China and Thailand, and the reliance on imported components for manufacturing. Additionally, rapid technological advancements in the TV industry, including innovations like OLED and QLED technology, require continuous investment in research and development.

Vietnam’s TV production sector continues to grow, driven by both domestic demand and export opportunities. With ongoing investments in technology, product innovation, and manufacturing capacity, Vietnam is well-positioned to remain a key player in the global television market.
