Vietnam’s phone accessory production value up 12 percent year-on-year in Q1

Vietnam’s phone accessory production was valued at VND 51.2 trillion in March, up significantly from VND 33.8 trillion in February. The March figure marked a 27.6 percent increase compared to the same month last year, while total output for the first quarter reached VND 119.2 trillion, up 12 percent year-on-year, according to data from the General Statistics Office.

Vietnam’s phone accessory production has become a significant part of the country’s growing electronics manufacturing sector. As the demand for mobile phones continues to rise both domestically and globally, the production of phone accessories, such as cases, chargers, earphones, screen protectors, and other peripherals, has seen substantial growth.

The country’s phone accessory industry benefits from its established position in the global electronics supply chain, with several international companies setting up manufacturing facilities in Vietnam. Major brands, including Samsung, Apple, and Sony, as well as numerous local manufacturers, produce a wide range of phone accessories in the country. These products are primarily designed for popular smartphones, such as those produced by Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi, among others.

Vietnam’s production of phone accessories is driven by both domestic demand and exports. As smartphone penetration increases in Vietnam and the surrounding Southeast Asian region, the demand for accessories such as protective cases, chargers, and headphones has grown significantly. In addition, Vietnam is increasingly becoming a key exporter of phone accessories to markets in Europe, North America, and other parts of Asia due to its competitive labor costs and well-developed manufacturing infrastructure.

The industry also benefits from a growing number of local companies involved in producing lower-cost phone accessories, catering to the budget-conscious segment of the market. These local brands offer affordable alternatives to international products and are gaining popularity in both domestic and regional markets.

Despite its growth, the phone accessory industry faces challenges such as competition from other low-cost manufacturing hubs, reliance on imported materials, and the need for constant innovation to meet consumer demands for new features and styles. Additionally, environmental concerns related to plastic waste and the need for sustainable production practices are increasingly shaping industry trends.

Vietnam’s phone accessory production continues to expand, supported by strong domestic and international demand. With ongoing investments in production facilities, research and development, and sustainability practices, the sector is expected to remain an important player in the global electronics market.
