Vietnam’s paper and paper product exports decline by 15.16 percent in January

Vietnam’s exports of paper and paper products fell by 15.16 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$148.81 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

The US remained the largest market, accounting for 30.39 percent of total exports at US$45.23 million, a decline of 11.20 percent from December. China followed with US$20.88 million, representing 14.03 percent of total exports, down 36.68 percent. Cambodia ranked third with US$13.32 million, making up 8.95 percent of total exports, declining by 3.72 percent.

Compared to December, Germany recorded the highest growth, surging by 204.45 percent to US$472,992. Indonesia and Thailand also saw notable increases, rising by 19.07 percent and 10.16 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, exports to Myanmar and Malaysia declined sharply, falling by 46.81 percent and 37.98 percent, respectively.

The top five markets—the US, China, Cambodia, Thailand, and Taiwan—accounted for 65.49 percent of Vietnam’s total paper and paper product exports in January. While some smaller markets experienced growth, the overall decline reflects weaker demand from major buyers.
