Vietnam’s non-wood furniture exports decline by 9.79 percent in January

Vietnam’s exports of furniture made from materials other than wood fell by 9.79 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$333.60 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

The majority of exports fell under the “other” category, which accounted for 96.68 percent of total shipments at US$322.51 million, declining by 9.84 percent from December. Denmark was the largest individual market, importing US$3.22 million, an increase of 4.22 percent. Australia followed with US$2.51 million, representing 0.75 percent of total exports, though it declined by 26.77 percent.

Compared to December, Brazil recorded the highest growth, rising by 102.72 percent to US$62,469. Taiwan and Chile also saw significant increases, growing by 63.39 percent and 58.46 percent, respectively. In contrast, exports to New Zealand and Hong Kong fell sharply, declining by 46.33 percent and 23.97 percent, respectively.

Denmark, Australia, and Taiwan accounted for 1.98 percent of Vietnam’s total non-wood furniture exports in January. While some smaller markets saw gains, overall exports declined due to reduced demand across major markets.
