Vietnam’s machinery imports rose nearly 28 percent in March

Vietnam imported US$4.85 billion worth of machinery, equipment, tools and instruments in March, up 27.88 percent from February, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought the total year-to-date value to US$12.64 billion.

China was by far the dominant supplier, accounting for US$3.07 billion or over 61 percent of the total, marking a 42.82 percent month-on-month rise. Imports from Japan rose 22.76 percent to US$485.23 million, while those from the USA reached US$93.51 million, up 20.84 percent. Germany, Taiwan, and Malaysia also posted notable increases. In contrast, South Korea and Italy saw declines of 7.41 percent and 39.95 percent respectively.
