Vietnam’s iron and steel product imports rise by 4.60 percent in December

Vietnam imported US$609.84 million worth of iron and steel products in December 2024, reflecting a 4.60 percent increase compared to November, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports reached US$6.49 billion.

China remained the top supplier, exporting US$430.29 million in December, up 4.32 percent month-on-month. South Korea followed with US$65.80 million, a 5.35 percent increase. The USA and Germany showed notable growth, with imports rising 28.88 percent and 24.00 percent, respectively.

In contrast, imports from Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia decreased by 13.29 percent, 1.22 percent, and 22.44 percent, respectively. The UK recorded the highest growth, with imports surging by 178.85 percent to US$3.08 million.
