Vietnam’s imports of liquefied petroleum gases rise 12.98 percent in January

Vietnam’s imports of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) increased by 12.98 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$155.97 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows an increase from US$138.05 million recorded in December.

Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total LPG imports stood at US$155.97 million. Qatar remained the largest supplier, contributing US$30.90 million, or 19.8 percent of the total, followed by China with US$26.51 million and Malaysia with US$20.17 million.

Among major suppliers, Qatar recorded the highest month-on-month growth, rising 119.71 percent, while Malaysia saw a notable increase of 38.14 percent. On the other hand, the UAE and Saudi Arabia saw declines of 37.76 percent and 32.73 percent, respectively.

The LPG market in Vietnam remains highly dependent on Qatar, China, and Malaysia, which together accounted for over 70 percent of total imports. The increase in imports from Qatar and Malaysia, along with the decline from the UAE and Saudi Arabia, reflects shifting trade dynamics in the LPG sector.
