Vietnam’s imports of fishery products totalled US$223.67 million in October, a 14.40 percent increase month-on-month. The year-to-date import value reached US$2.09 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
Indonesia was the top supplier, contributing US$31.27 million in October, reflecting a modest increase of 1.78 percent. Norway followed with US$24.26 million, marking a significant 40.27 percent rise. Imports from India surged by 80.12 percent to US$27.27 million, while China saw a 16.12 percent increase to US$20.06 million.
The USA experienced strong growth, with imports rising by 21.61 percent to US$12.09 million. Imports from South Korea grew by 26.88 percent, totalling US$7.46 million. Denmark saw the most substantial increase, with imports surging by 132.75 percent to US$0.56 million.
Conversely, some suppliers experienced declines. Imports from Canada dropped sharply by 37.60 percent to US$1.97 million, and Malaysia saw a 64.53 percent decline to US$0.89 million. Imports from Taiwan decreased by 11.67 percent, amounting to US$9.89 million.
The robust growth in fishery imports from key partners such as Norway, India, and the USA highlights Vietnam’s increasing demand for seafood, despite declines from specific sources like Malaysia and Canada.
