Vietnam’s imports of fabrics fall 18.76 percent in January

Vietnam’s imports of fabrics declined by 18.76 percent month-on-month in January to US$1.08 billion, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decrease from US$1.33 billion recorded in December.

Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total imports of fabrics stood at US$1.08 billion. China remained the dominant supplier, contributing US$772.09 million, or 71.45 percent of the total. Taiwan followed with US$110.64 million, representing 10.24 percent, while South Korea supplied US$92.83 million.

Among major suppliers, Cambodia recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing 43.50 percent. In contrast, Belgium saw the steepest decline, with imports falling 86.21 percent. Switzerland and Germany also posted significant drops of 57.47 percent and 52.04 percent, respectively.

The industry remains heavily reliant on China, which continues to supply the majority of Vietnam’s fabric imports. While Cambodia showed strong growth, overall imports from most key suppliers declined significantly, reflecting shifting demand and sourcing patterns.
