Vietnam’s imports of animal and vegetable fats and oils rise by 4.90 percent in December

Vietnam imported US$142.20 million worth of animal and vegetable fats and oils in December 2024, marking a 4.90 percent increase compared to November, according to data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports totalled US$1.39 billion.

Indonesia was the largest supplier, contributing US$78.64 million, a 22.05 percent increase from November. Imports from Australia and India also saw significant growth, rising by 39.61 percent and 21.57 percent, respectively. The “Other” category experienced the highest growth, increasing by 22.41 percent to US$5.87 million.

Conversely, imports from Thailand and Singapore fell sharply by 53.62 percent and 59.56 percent, respectively. Imports from South Korea, China, and the USA also declined, with decreases of 17.75 percent, 11.86 percent, and 8.63 percent, respectively. Argentina made its entry in December import data, contributing US$56,340.
