Vietnam imported US$65.73 million worth of goods from the United Kingdom in February 2025, slightly down by 1.15 percent from January’s US$66.50 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought year-to-date imports from the UK to US$132.26 million.
The top import category was “other products”, which reached US$18.97 million in February and accounted for nearly 29 percent of the total. Imports of machinery, equipment, tools and instruments followed, although they dropped 26.50 percent from the previous month to US$15.64 million. Pharmaceutical products held steady at US$6.36 million, representing over 9 percent of the total.
Several items recorded notable month-on-month increases. Plastic products rose 48.06 percent to US$4.68 million, chemical products climbed 52.57 percent, and motor vehicles jumped 66.81 percent. Smaller categories such as rubber products and chemicals also posted strong growth, up 73.23 percent and 100.06 percent respectively. By contrast, there were sharp declines in several sectors. Imports of video cameras and parts fell 56.27 percent, while essential oils and perfumery items dropped 51.36 percent. Insecticides and related materials declined 97.91 percent, and machinery-related goods also softened. The steepest fall was seen in other base metals, down 59.62 percent from January.
Despite a modest overall drop in February, trade between Vietnam and the UK remained relatively stable across key categories, with a mix of sharp gains and contractions in specific product lines.
