Vietnam imported US$232.45 million worth of goods from the Philippines in February 2025, a 6.01 percent increase from US$219.30 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought total imports from the Philippines over the first two months of the year to US$451.66 million.
The leading import category was computers, electrical products and spare parts, which rose to US$132.14 million in February, accounting for more than half of the total. Imports of other base metals reached US$36.49 million, slightly down from January. Machinery, equipment and tools increased to US$26.32 million, reflecting continued industrial demand.
Several categories posted notable gains. Insulated wires and cables rose to US$7.91 million, while fishery product imports more than doubled to US$5.55 million. Imports of pastry goods, parts and accessories of motor vehicles, and plastic products also showed strong performance. Other products, a broad category, reached US$13.57 million in February.
Smaller import categories such as edible food preparations, animal fodder, and chemical products saw moderate increases. Some sectors like tobacco materials, pharmaceutical products, and paper registered values in February after no reported imports in January. However, imports of iron and steel, plastics, and rubber products remained relatively modest.
Vietnam’s import growth from the Philippines was primarily led by the electronics sector, with additional support from machinery, processed food, and raw materials, highlighting the Philippines’ role as a key supplier of technology and intermediate goods.
