Vietnam’s imports from South Korea totalled US$4.77 billion in November, a 1.82 percent decrease compared to October, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. Year-to-date imports reached US$51.13 billion.
The largest import category was computers, electrical products, and spare parts, which amounted to US$2.82 billion, though this represented a decline of 2.69 percent month-on-month. Machine, equipment, tools, and instruments saw a slight increase of 2.01 percent, reaching US$412.03 million. Imports of petroleum products rose by 8.65 percent to US$163.25 million, while fabrics showed strong growth, increasing by 14.61 percent to US$138.08 million.
Conversely, imports of plastics and other base metals fell sharply, with plastics down by 9.40 percent to US$178.31 million and other base metals dropping by 22.15 percent to US$100.81 million. Imports of parts and accessories of motor vehicles also declined by 3.30 percent to US$117.48 million.
Overall, the decline in imports reflects shifting demand for certain goods, despite growth in specific categories like fabrics and petroleum products.
