Vietnam imported US$63.73 million worth of goods from New Zealand in February 2025, a modest increase of 4.02 percent compared to US$61.27 million in January, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This brought year-to-date imports from New Zealand to US$124.95 million.
Milk and milk products continued to dominate Vietnam’s imports from New Zealand, rising to US$45.28 million in February, up from US$39.75 million the previous month. This category alone accounted for over two-thirds of total imports from New Zealand during the first two months of 2025.
Other products made up the second-largest group, with imports reaching US$9.86 million in February. Wood and wooden products followed closely at US$4.23 million, maintaining steady performance month-on-month. Chemical products more than doubled to US$1.21 million in February, and machinery imports also rose sharply from a low January base to US$881,028.
Imports of fruits and vegetables dropped significantly, falling to US$1.52 million from US$5.54 million in January. Textile, leather and foot-wear materials also declined to US$740,319. Ferrous waste and scrap showed no recorded imports in February, down from US$158,728 in January.
The February increase was largely driven by stronger demand for dairy and industrial inputs, reflecting New Zealand’s continued importance as a supplier of foodstuffs and raw materials to Vietnam.
