Vietnam’s garment manufacturing industry posted notable growth in October, with both monthly and annual increases indicating robust demand. Vietnam’s industrial production index data found a 2 percent increase in garment output compared to September, reflecting steady month-over-month expansion in the sector.
The year-over-year data reveals even stronger growth, with an impressive 18.1 percent increase in October compared to the same month in 2023. Additionally, the cumulative figures from January to October indicate a 10.3 percent rise over the same period last year. This substantial annual growth underscores Vietnam’s position as a competitive garment manufacturing hub, driven by strong global demand and the country’s expansive production capacity.
Of note, Vietnam’s garment sector is benefiting from increased international orders and favourable trade conditions. However, sustaining this growth may require addressing challenges such as supply chain dependencies and rising production costs, particularly in a global market where sustainable and ethical production practices are becoming increasingly important to buyers.
