Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable processing shows strong annual growth in 2024

Vietnam’s processing and preserving of fruits and vegetables increased by 4.5 percent in December compared to November, according to Vietnam’s Industrial Production Index.

Year-on-year, the sector expanded by 11.5 percent in December compared to December 2023. For the full year of 2024, cumulative growth reached an impressive 15.9 percent compared to 2023, reflecting substantial progress in this vital industry.

The monthly growth signals heightened demand during the holiday season, while the strong annual performance highlights Vietnam’s increasing capacity in fruit and vegetable processing. This growth is driven by rising domestic consumption and export demand, particularly from key markets such as China, the United States, and the European Union.

Fruit and vegetable processing is a critical part of Vietnam’s agro-industrial sector, contributing to both domestic food security and export revenues. With investments in modern technology and sustainable practices, the industry continues to enhance its competitiveness globally.

The consistent growth in 2024 underscores the potential for further expansion as Vietnam strengthens its position as a leading exporter of processed agricultural products.
