The Industrial Production Index (IPI) for processing and preserving fruits and vegetables increased by 4.66 percent in November compared to October, indicating robust month-on-month growth, according to Vietnam’s General Statistics Office. This rise highlights the sector’s sustained momentum and its role in meeting growing domestic and international demand.
Year-on-year, the sector saw growth of 18.63 percent by November compared to the same month in 2023. Over the first 11 months of the year, the IPI recorded an increase of 17.23 percent compared to the same period last year, marking it as one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing industries.
This growth is driven by expanding export markets, advancements in preservation technologies, and government support for agricultural processing. Vietnam’s favourable climate and diverse crop production contribute to a strong supply chain, ensuring steady inputs for the industry.
The processing and preservation of fruits and vegetables is a cornerstone of Vietnam’s agro-industrial sector, supporting job creation and export earnings. Continued innovation and investment in sustainable practices will be essential to maintaining the sector’s upward trajectory.
