Vietnam’s exports of chemicals decrease 3.39 percent in January

Vietnam’s exports of chemicals fell by 3.39 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$219.95 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decrease from US$227.67 million recorded in December.

Year-to-date, total exports of chemicals stood at US$219.95 million. China remained the largest destination, receiving US$68.38 million, or 31.1 percent of the total, followed by India with US$39.37 million, representing 17.9 percent, and Japan with US$24.43 million.

Among major destinations, exports to the Netherlands saw the highest month-on-month growth, increasing by 122.26 percent, followed by Malaysia with a rise of 307.06 percent. On the other hand, exports to Italy, Indonesia, and South Korea experienced significant declines of 85.52 percent, 43.07 percent, and 29.55 percent, respectively.

Vietnam’s chemical product exports continue to be dominated by key markets in Asia, with China and India maintaining strong positions. However, the overall drop in exports from several key countries highlights ongoing challenges in these regions.
