Vietnam’s exports of bamboo and rattan products decreased by 7.28 percent month-on-month in January, reaching US$74.42 million, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This follows a decline from US$80.26 million recorded in December.
Year-to-date, Vietnam’s total exports of bamboo and rattan products stood at US$74.42 million. The USA remained the largest destination, receiving US$31.55 million, or 42.4 percent of the total, followed by the UK with US$4.86 million, representing 6.5 percent, and Japan with US$4.17 million.
Among major destinations, the USA recorded the highest month-on-month growth, increasing by 7.88 percent, followed by Japan with an increase of 21.82 percent. In contrast, exports to China and Taiwan experienced significant declines of 48.73 percent and 43.22 percent, respectively. Other key destinations such as India, Spain, and South Korea also posted declines, falling by 35.94 percent, 33.76 percent, and 41.86 percent, respectively.
Vietnam’s bamboo and rattan product exports continue to be heavily reliant on the USA, which accounts for over 40 percent of total exports. Despite some growth in the USA and Japan, the overall decline from key markets, particularly China and Taiwan, suggests shifting market dynamics in this sector.
