The Industrial Production Index (IPI) for the production of cement, lime, and plaster increased by 3.58 percent in November compared to October, reflecting stable month-on-month growth, according to Vietnam’s General Statistics Office. This performance underscores the importance of these materials in supporting construction activity across the country.
Year-on-year, the sector grew by 8.83 percent in November 2024 compared to the same month in 2023. However, the first 11 months of 2024 showed a slight cumulative contraction of 0.17 percent compared to the same period last year, highlighting lingering challenges in earlier parts of the year.
This growth is linked to increased demand from infrastructure and housing projects, supported by government investments in public infrastructure. However, the minor annual contraction could reflect market saturation or reduced exports earlier in the year.
Cement, lime, and plaster production remains a vital component of Vietnam’s construction materials industry, ensuring the steady supply needed for both domestic and export markets. Sustained focus on efficiency and sustainability will be key to long-term stability in this sector.
