In January, Vietnam imported US$290.40 million worth of goods from France, down from US$349.09 million in December, a change of -16.81 percent, according to preliminary data from Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
So far this year, Vietnam has imported US$290 million worth of goods from France.
Vietnam imported US$92.64 million worth of other means of transportation, parts and accessories thereof from France in January. This was down from US$154.90 million in December, a change of -40.19 percent.
Vietnam imported US$51.92 million worth of pharmaceutical products from France in January. This was up from US$36.76 million in December, a change of 41.24 percent.
Vietnam imported US$33.52 million worth of computers from France in January. This was up from US$30.32 million in December, a change of 10.56 percent.
Vietnam imported US$17.82 million worth of machines, equipment, tools and instruments from France in January. This was down from US$27.44 million in December, a change of -35.05 percent.

Vietnam’s trade with France
In January, Vietnam imported US$290.40 million worth of goods from France and exported US$413.96 million to France, for total trade worth US$704.37 million, and leaving a trade surplus of US$123.56 million.
Two-way trade so far this year between Vietnam and France has reached US$704 million, with Vietnam importing US$290 million worth of goods and exporting US$414 million worth of goods.

Vietnam-France trade relations
Vietnam and France established diplomatic relations in 1973 and upgraded ties to a strategic partnership in 2013, strengthening political and economic cooperation.
Bilateral trade has expanded under the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, which took effect in 2020 and reduced tariffs across a wide range of goods.
France is one of Vietnam’s leading European Union trading partners, with exports including electronics, textiles, footwear and agricultural products, while France supplies pharmaceuticals, aerospace equipment and industrial machinery.
Both countries also cooperate in development finance, infrastructure, renewable energy and transport projects through French public investment and credit agencies.
