Vietnam GDP growth accelerates to 8.23 percent in Q3 2025: National Statistics Office

Vietnam’s economy expanded strongly in the third quarter of 2025, with gross domestic product (GDP) rising by 8.23 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary estimates from the National Statistics Office → view source.

This marks the second-highest quarterly growth rate over the last decade, behind a 14.38 percent increase recorded in the same period of 2022.

The agriculture, forestry and fishery sector grew by 3.74 percent, contributing 5.04 percent to overall value-added growth.

The industry and construction sector rose by 9.46 percent, contributing 46.41 percent, led by the processing and manufacturing industry, which expanded 9.98 percent.

Services increased by 8.56 percent, accounting for 48.55 percent of total growth.

On the expenditure side, final consumption rose 7.79 percent year-on-year, contributing 59.76 percent to GDP growth.

Asset accumulation increased 8.97 percent, contributing 44.67 percent.

Exports of goods and services were up 18.30 percent, while imports increased 18.53 percent.

For the first nine months of 2025, GDP is estimated to have grown by 7.85 percent compared to the same period last year, slightly below the 9.44 percent recorded in 2022.

Agriculture, forestry and fishery increased 3.83 percent, contributing 5.36 percent to the total added value; industry and construction rose 8.69 percent, contributing 43.05 percent; and services expanded 8.49 percent, accounting for 51.59 percent.

The agriculture sector showed resilience despite storm damage, growing 3.46 percent, while forestry rose 6.46 percent and fisheries 4.48 percent.

Industrial output increased 8.55 percent in September, driven by a 9.92 percent rise in processing and manufacturing and 9.33 percent in construction.

Services benefited from higher consumer demand, tourism and retail activity, with wholesale and retail up 8.28 percent, transport and warehousing up 10.68 percent, finance and insurance up 7.06 percent, and accommodation and catering up 10.15 percent.

In the first nine months of 2025, agriculture, forestry and fishery made up 11.30 percent of GDP, industry and construction 37.58 percent, services 42.92 percent, and product taxes less subsidies 8.20 percent.

On the use side, final consumption rose 8.07 percent, contributing 73.83 percent to total growth; asset accumulation increased 8.52 percent, contributing 41.43 percent; exports were up 15.51 percent; and imports grew 16.75 percent.
