Vietnam’s beer industry

Vietnam’s beer industry is one of the largest in Southeast Asia, supported by a young population, rising incomes, and a strong social drinking culture.

The market is dominated by major domestic players such as Sabeco and Habeco, alongside international brewers including Heineken and Carlsberg, all competing across mass and premium segments.

Beer consumption in Vietnam has moderated in recent years due to stricter drink-driving laws and changing consumer behaviour, though volumes remain high by regional standards.

Growth is increasingly shifting toward premiumisation and on-trade channels, even as regulatory pressure, tax policy, and evolving health awareness continue to shape the industry’s outlook.
