US tourist arrivals in Vietnam rise in January

Vietnam welcomed 92,538 tourists from the United States in January, accounting for 4.5 percent of total international arrivals, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This represents a 25.5 percent increase from December and a 22.3 percent rise year-on-year.

U.S.-based hotel chains have become an increasingly prominent part of Vietnam’s hospitality industry, reflecting the country’s growing appeal as a global tourist destination. Major U.S. hotel brands, such as Marriott, Hilton, InterContinental, and AccorHotels, have expanded their presence in key Vietnamese cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Nha Trang. These international hotel chains cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering high-quality accommodations, modern amenities, and services tailored to international standards.

Marriott, for example, operates a number of properties in Vietnam, including both luxury and mid-range options, such as the JW Marriott and Courtyard by Marriott. Hilton also has a strong presence in the country, with its Hilton Garden Inn and Hilton Hotels providing a range of options for tourists and business travelers. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), operates several high-end resorts and hotels, including those in popular tourist areas like Phu Quoc Island.

These American hotel brands are attracted by Vietnam’s booming tourism sector, growing economy, and increasing number of international business ventures. They are particularly focused on the rising middle class, both in Vietnam and throughout the region, as well as the influx of foreign visitors coming for leisure, meetings, conferences, and trade events.

Additionally, U.S. hotels are helping to improve the overall standard of service in the Vietnamese hospitality market, providing Vietnamese consumers with access to high international service standards and modern amenities. As the country continues to grow as a major global destination for both tourism and business, the presence of U.S. hotel brands is likely to expand further, contributing to the growth of the hospitality industry in Vietnam.
