Vietnam’s exports to the United States reached US$14.22 billion in July, up 3.20 percent from June, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.
This brought the year-to-date total to US$85.12 billion, cementing the US as Vietnam’s largest export market.
Computers, electrical products, and spare parts remained the top category despite a 5.17 percent month-on-month decline, reaching US$3.74 billion. Machinery followed at US$1.99 billion, also down 2.55 percent.
Textiles and garments posted a 4.31 percent rise to US$1.82 billion, while phones and parts jumped 16.79 percent to US$1.11 billion. Other strong performers included footwear, wood products, toys, plastics, and transport parts, all recording double-digit growth.
Seafood exports increased 13.65 percent to US$149.70 million, while cashew nuts surged nearly 25 percent to US$85.68 million.
Coffee, by contrast, plunged more than 69 percent to US$10.67 million, and rice fell almost 47 percent to US$1.48 million.
Rubber products, pepper, cameras, and pastry products also posted notable declines.
The data highlights Vietnam’s heavy reliance on electronics, garments, and footwear, which together accounted for more than half of shipments to the US. Consumer goods categories such as toys, wood, and cashews show resilience, while agricultural exports remain volatile.
The US market continues to absorb a broad mix of products, but structural dependence on a few high-value segments underscores risks from demand shifts or trade policy changes.
Vietnam’s ability to diversify product categories while sustaining growth in key sectors will be crucial for maintaining its export momentum in the US market.
