Thai tourist arrivals in Vietnam remain steady in January

Vietnam recorded 40,464 tourist arrivals from Thailand in January, representing 2.0 percent of total international visitors, according to Vietnam’s General Department of Tourism. This figure reflects a slight 0.8 percent decline from December and a marginal 0.2 percent drop year-on-year.

Tourism between Vietnam and Thailand has been steadily increasing, driven by strong cultural, historical, and economic ties between the two countries. Both nations are popular tourist destinations in Southeast Asia, offering rich cultural experiences, beautiful landscapes, and a range of activities for travelers.

For Thai tourists, Vietnam offers a diverse array of attractions, including its bustling cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Ha Long Bay and the ancient town of Hoi An, and the natural beauty of regions like the Mekong Delta. Vietnamese cuisine, with its distinct flavors, and the country’s rich history and culture, further enhance its appeal to Thai visitors. Vietnam’s proximity, affordable travel options, and direct flight routes from Bangkok to cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have made it a convenient destination for Thai tourists.

Similarly, Thailand has become an increasingly popular destination for Vietnamese travelers. Thai cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket are among the top destinations for Vietnamese tourists, offering a mix of vibrant city life, rich cultural heritage, shopping, and beautiful beaches. Thailand’s well-established tourism infrastructure, friendly visa policies for Vietnamese nationals, and affordability make it an attractive choice for those seeking a nearby international destination.

The growing tourism relationship between Vietnam and Thailand has been supported by increased flight connectivity, tourism marketing campaigns, and collaboration between the governments of both countries. As both nations continue to improve their tourism infrastructure and foster closer economic and cultural ties, tourism between Vietnam and Thailand is expected to continue expanding, offering more opportunities for travel, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding.
