Vietnam’s imports of textile, leather, and footwear materials and auxiliaries reached US$642.95 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 5.26 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$2.34 billion.
China remains the dominant supplier despite a slight decrease:
China was the leading supplier in April, with imports valued at US$403.27 million. This marks a slight decrease of 2.65 percent from March but still accounts for a commanding 58.97 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
South Korea sees significant growth to become a key supplier:
South Korea was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$40.29 million, a substantial increase of 16.26 percent from the previous month. South Korea accounts for 5.93 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Taiwan experiences a decrease but remains a major supplier:
Taiwan supplied US$30.69 million in April, a decrease of 11.48 percent from March, representing 5.21 percent of the YTD.
USA sees a notable decrease:
Imports from the USA decreased by 23.86 percent in April, reaching US$29.67 million, accounting for 5.92 percent of the year-to-date imports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Poland experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 709.36 percent, although its overall import value is lower. Austria and France also saw substantial rises. Conversely, Argentina experienced the most significant decrease at 56.37 percent, followed by Indonesia at 49.12 percent and Australia at 43.87 percent. Imports from Denmark ceased entirely in April.
