VietJet found liable for US$181.8 million in UK court aircraft leasing dispute
The High Court of England and Wales has ruled in favour of FW Aviation, ordering VietJet Aviation to pay more than US$181.8 million in a dispute over four aircraft that VietJet failed to return after their leases were cancelled. The court upheld FW Aviation’s right to full termination payments and possession of the aircraft, rejecting VietJet’s penalty clause and title-based defences, according to the decision handed down by the court.
Vietnam relaxes aircraft certification rules opening market to China, Brazil, others
Vietnam has issued a new decree broadening its aircraft import framework to allow certification from aviation authorities i nChina, Russia, Brazil, Canada, and the UK — a move expected to benefit airlines like Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet as they seek to expand their fleets, CafeF is reporting.
Direct flights from Hanoi to Moscow resume
From May 8, Vietnam Airlines will resume direct flights from Hanoi to Moscow. Vietnam Airlines flights between the two cities were suspended in March of 2022 after the outbreak of the Ukraine War.

UK court grants anti-suit injunction against Vietnam’s Vietjet
The UK’s Commercial Court has granted anti-suit injunctions to banks BNP Paribas and Natixis against Vietjet with respect to court proceedings Vietjet had intended to pursue in Vietnam. The banks had previously held lease agreements with the airline with respect to several aircraft, lease agreements Vietjet defaulted on. The banks had pursued, and been awarded the injunctions, on the grounds that the agreements with Vietjet specifically assigned the UK courts jurisdiction over any dispute between the parties.

It’s not clear, however, if the National Assembly will give the government permission to buy said shares.
Road to second airport for Vietnam’s HCMC delayed amid land acquisition issues
Bao Giao Thong says this is because on one road 40 percent of the land is defense land though it doesn’t explain why this would cause abnormal delays. It also notes that Tan Binh District needs to hand over land belonging to 68 households before December 28 for a second road if it is to be completed by February 28 next year. It’s not clear if there is a delay here or if a delay is expected.
Vietnam domestic flights show slight recovery in October
Among the market leaders, Vietnam Airlines operated 7,483 flights in October with Vietjet retaining its leading position with 7,965 flights, making it the top carrier for domestic routes. Pacific Airlines operated 366 flights, while Vasco and Bamboo Airways contributed 489 and 1,150 flights, respectively.
