Rubber: Vietnam imports down in April, Cambodia lead source

Vietnam’s imports of rubber reached US$203.24 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 7.52 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$945.73 million.

Cambodia remains the top supplier despite a decrease:

Cambodia was the leading supplier of rubber to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$40.05 million. This marks a decrease of 8.43 percent from March but still accounts for a significant 29.15 percent of the total year-to-date imports.

China sees a slight decrease but remains a major supplier:

China was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$37.91 million, a decrease of 5.16 percent from the previous month. China accounts for 16.07 percent of the year-to-date imports.

South Korea records a minor increase:

Imports from South Korea experienced a slight increase of 4.92 percent in April, reaching US$29.10 million. South Korea accounts for 11.20 percent of the year-to-date imports.

Laos experiences a significant decrease:

Imports from Laos saw a substantial decrease of 31.82 percent in April, falling to US$13.67 million. Laos accounts for 8.32 percent of the year-to-date imports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

Germany experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 101.75 percent. Canada also saw a substantial rise. Conversely, Thailand experienced the most significant decrease at 30.44 percent, followed closely by Taiwan at 30.59 percent and Laos at 31.82 percent. Imports from the UK ceased entirely in April, while Belgium saw no imports in April after having some in March.
