Vietnam’s imports of precious stones, precious metal, and articles thereof reached US$80.67 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a decrease of 11.34 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) import value of US$309.78 million.
Hong Kong becomes the top supplier despite a decrease:
Hong Kong was the leading supplier in April, with imports valued at US$11.68 million. This marks a decrease of 26.31 percent from March but still accounts for a significant 15.26 percent of the total year-to-date imports.
China sees a significant increase:
China was the second-largest supplier in April, with imports valued at US$17.74 million, a substantial increase of 52.13 percent from the previous month. China accounts for 12.87 percent of the year-to-date imports.
South Korea sees a slight decrease but remains a key supplier:
South Korea experienced a minor decrease of 8.32 percent in April, with imports valued at US$9.91 million. South Korea accounts for 13.24 percent of the year-to-date imports.
India records a decrease:
Imports from India decreased by 21.98 percent in April, reaching US$9.21 million, contributing 14.74 percent to the year-to-date total.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Thailand experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 37.94 percent, followed by the USA. Conversely, Belgium experienced the most significant decrease at 52.57 percent, followed by Canada at 46.70 percent. Imports from Armenia resumed in April after being absent in March.
