Vietnam’s exports of precious stones, precious metals, and articles thereof reached US$51.69 million in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents an increase of 11.87 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$258.61 million.
Top Markets and Notable Increases:
- The USA remained the dominant market, with exports soaring by 44.42 percent to US$19.92 million. It accounts for a substantial 34.23 percent of YTD exports.
- Germany recorded an impressive surge of 90.38 percent, reaching US$933,083.
- Spain exports jumped by 52.16 percent.
- Hong Kong saw a strong increase of 16.71 percent.
- France exports grew by 14.94 percent.
- Japan, Belgium, and Taiwan also registered positive month-on-month growth.
Significant Declines:
- Thailand experienced the sharpest decrease, plummeting by 37.68 percent.
- The UK exports fell by 31.93 percent.
- Australia decreased by 13.13 percent.
- South Korea saw a decline of 10.76 percent.
- The “Other” category also experienced a 13.55 percent decrease.
- Notably, there were no exports to the UAE in May, after small exports in April.
The May data for Vietnam’s precious stones, precious metals, and articles thereof indicates a strong overall positive trend, primarily driven by robust demand from the USA and significant growth in European markets like Germany and Spain. Despite declines in some Asian markets, the sector demonstrates healthy expansion.
