Precious stones & metals: Vietnam exports down 28.51 percent in April, USA top destination

Vietnam’s exports of precious stones, precious metal and articles thereof reached US$46.21 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a significant decrease of 28.51 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$206.91 million.

USA remains the top export market despite a substantial decrease:

The USA was the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$13.79 million. This marks a substantial decrease of 34.63 percent from March but still accounts for the largest share of the year-to-date exports at 33.16 percent.

Japan sees a moderate decrease but remains a key market:

Japan was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$6.42 million, a decrease of 17.97 percent from the previous month. Japan accounts for 12.55 percent of the year-to-date exports.

South Korea sees a moderate decrease:

Exports to South Korea experienced a decrease of 15.26 percent in April, reaching US$4.43 million. South Korea accounts for 9.83 percent of the year-to-date exports.

France sees a slight decrease:

Exports to France saw a decrease of 10.61 percent in April, falling to US$3.63 million. France accounts for 6.59 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Belgium sees a substantial decrease:

Exports to Belgium experienced a significant decrease of 59.83 percent in April, reaching US$3.10 million. Belgium accounts for 8.01 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Thailand records moderate growth:

Exports to Thailand saw an increase of 22.74 percent in April, reaching US$3.03 million. Thailand accounts for 4.73 percent of the year-to-date exports.

Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:

UK experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 162.23 percent, followed by Thailand. Conversely, Spain experienced the most significant decrease at 65.92 percent, followed by Belgium and Hong Kong. Notably, exports to UAE remained the same in April as in March.
