Vietnam’s exports of plastics reached US$194.37 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a significant decrease of 13.43 percent compared to March, with a year-to-date (YTD) export value of US$788.42 million.
Indonesia becomes the top export market with substantial growth:
Indonesia emerged as the leading export market in April, with exports valued at US$25.39 million, a significant increase of 21.03 percent from March. Indonesia accounts for 13.68 percent of the year-to-date exports.
China remains a key export market with marginal growth:
China was the second-largest export market in April, with exports valued at US$22.55 million, a marginal increase of 0.71 percent from the previous month. China accounts for 9.87 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Japan sees moderate growth:
Exports to Japan experienced an increase of 10.00 percent in April, reaching US$16.37 million. Japan accounts for 7.73 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Italy sees a significant decrease:
Exports to Italy saw a substantial decrease of 20.96 percent in April, falling to US$14.39 million. Italy accounts for 6.49 percent of the year-to-date exports.
India sees a substantial decrease:
Exports to India experienced a significant decrease of 47.35 percent in April, reaching US$9.35 million. India accounts for 7.20 percent of the year-to-date exports.
Significant month-on-month increases and decreases:
Nigeria experienced the largest month-on-month increase at 1655.73 percent, followed by South Africa and Lithuania. Conversely, Poland experienced the most significant decrease at 51.82 percent, followed by India and Hong Kong. Notably, there were no exports to Peru and Belarus in April after exports in March.
