Vietnam’s imports of cotton reached US$290.24 million in April 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents an 11.37 percent increase compared to the import value in March and accounts for the entire year-to-date import value of US$1.08 billion for this specific category.
Brazil and USA are top cotton suppliers:
The USA emerged as the leading supplier of cotton to Vietnam in April, with imports valued at US$169.37 million. Brazil followed, supplying US$86.49 million worth of cotton in April. The USA’s April imports accounted for a significant 41.26 percent of the total year-to-date cotton imports, while Brazil’s accounted for 39.73 percent of the YTD figure.
Notable month-on-month changes:
Argentina experienced a significant surge in cotton exports to Vietnam, with an increase of 252.34 percent in April. Indonesia also saw a substantial rise of 43.49 percent. Conversely, China’s cotton exports to Vietnam saw a sharp decline of 62.80 percent.
Australia and India remain key suppliers:
Australia and India continued to be important suppliers of cotton to Vietnam, with year-to-date contributions of 6.86 percent and 3.33 percent respectively.
