Phones: Vietnam exports surge 22.56% in May, with strong growth to USA, UK, and Italy

Vietnam’s exports of telephones, mobile phones, and parts thereof reached US$4.61 billion in May 2025, according to figures released by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs. This represents a significant increase of 22.56 percent compared to April, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) export value to US$22.41 billion.

Top Markets and Notable Increases:

  • The USA remained a leading market, with exports soaring by 38.13 percent to US$963.81 million, accounting for 19.66 percent of YTD exports.
  • The UK experienced an exceptional surge of 181.71 percent, reaching US$131.03 million.
  • Italy recorded an outstanding increase of 466.53 percent to US$64.14 million.
  • Canada exports jumped by 118.90 percent to US$70.10 million.
  • New Zealand saw a dramatic rise of 105.27 percent to US$16.61 million.
  • Israel increased by 232.55 percent to US$14.88 million.

Significant Declines:

  • Argentina experienced a decrease of 18.08 percent.
  • Japan exports fell by 23.18 percent.
  • Mexico decreased by 6.29 percent.
  • Austria saw a decline of 9.14 percent.
  • Slovakia decreased by 19.35 percent.

The May data for Vietnam’s exports of telephones, mobile phones, and parts thereof indicates a very strong month overall, driven by robust demand from the USA, and exceptional growth in key European markets like the UK and Italy, as well as Canada. Despite declines in some markets, the sector’s impressive performance underscores Vietnam’s continued prominence as a global manufacturing hub for electronic devices.
